Virgin Shea Butter

We love shea butter!  Our shea butter in 100% pure and natural, Fair  Trade, handcrafted in Ghana and has not been refined or altered in any manner.  It is beige in color, and has a light nutty/smokey scent. Refined and Ultra refined shea butters are hexane bleached and deoderized  which strips the natural vitamins and minerals and leaves traces of the chemical behind.   Virgin Shea butter retains all of its natural vitamins and minerals, including its high content of  vitamins A and E.

Shea Butter has a unique fatty acid profile which contributes to its protective and hydrating ability.  Vitamins A and E balance and normalize the skin, keeping it clear and healthy, which is particularly beneficial for dry or sun exposed skin.  Vitamin A has soothing and hydrating properties. Together these vitamins help to prevent premature wrinkles and premature facial lines.  It also contains Vitamin F which acts as a skin protector and revitalizer.  It soothes rough, dry or chapped skin on contact and helps to soften skin and hair.  Vitamin F consists of linoleic, linolenic and arachidonic acids, the three essential fatty acids. 

For winter skin care, shea butter is a must!  I always carry a container in my purse and my kids carry small containers in their backpacks.  Chapped lips come on fast in kids, and applying shea butter quickly relieves the rawness almost immediately!
